Sadan Cave is a must-do if you’re in Hpa-an. The big and wide cave has many Buddhist Statues inside with a big reclining Buddha and even golden carvings on the wall. Once reaching the end of Sadan Cave, people will catch a well-hidden landscape at the backside of the cave. Taking a boat ride back to the entrance (through paddy fields, greens, and mountains) is highly recommended by many tourists.
Kyauk Ka Lat Pagoda has a breathtaking view (especially in the sunset) with a background of the pagoda, mountains, and a wide calm lake. The highlight of this place is the stupa on the top along with other stupas under the foot of the stone mount. This beautiful pagoda is well worth a quick stop for praying and taking some nice photographs.
If you would like to welcome the sunrise in Hpa-an, an early climb up to the top of Mount Zwegabin is the best option. Somewhere during the hike will be quite steep and the climb will take you from 90 minutes to 2 hours, but the bird’s eye view from the peak is really amazing. You can also spend time visiting the temple and monastery there while sightseeing.
Kawgun Cave is not as long and wide as Sadan Cave, however, the cave attracts people by its religious atmosphere with many Buddha Statues inside and impressive ancient clay Buddhist paintings on the cave wall. An interesting place to visit for both pilgrims and tourists when in Hpa-an.
