Oudomxay covers a total area of around 15,370 km2 with the total population calculated to 2015 is 307,622 people. Its provincial town named Muang Xay

The province has a mild tropical climate with more rainfall in the summer months. The annual average temperature here is around 24oC with the average rainfall is 1437mm. In the winter, it can get quite chilly while it would be very hot and humid in the summer
