Discover Manas National Park by Jeep Ride
Covering a massive total area of 950 km2 including five districts in the state of Assam, Manas National Park or Manas Wildlife Sanctuary, is a former UNESCO Natural World Heritage (in danger) site (from 2011), a Project Tiger Reserve, an Elephant Reserve and also a Biosphere Reserve. Lying on the foothills of the Himalayas, Manas is proudly praised as one of the most stunning pristine wildlife habitats in India. It got the name due to the eponymous river, the Manas river, a major tributary of Brahmaputra River, which passes through the heart of the national park. The main tourist spot of Mothanguri, on the northern border of Manas with Bhutan, is situated on the banks of this river. Once a hunting reserve, Manas National Park now is a well-known wildlife sanctuary hosting many rare and endangered endemic animals such as the Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur, and pygmy hog. Visiting Manas and experiencing unforgettable elephant & jungle safari here, you will not only be amazed by the beauty of its spectacular landscape but also gain a close insight into the wildlife diversity and efforts in preservation of the park.
