Explore Maliau Basin - “Sabah’s Lost World”
As its nickname, "Sabah's Lost World", Maliau Basin encapsulates one of Malaysia’s finest wildlife by its special location. Surrounded by a large escarpment which is over 1000 metres above sea level, the entire Maliau Basin is a natural-forming area with a unique self-contained ecosystem. The area remained isolating and seems to be undiscovered by people until the 1980's. Its distinctive geological features created a massive water catchment that all water sources in the basin flow to the Maliau River, the only place that water can escape the area. The richness of streams and favorable natural conditions have made an impressive biological diversity for the area.
