The Taj Mahal is a gorgeous mausoleum of white marble, which is located on the Yamuna River's southern bank in the historical city of Agra. It was built within 21 years from 1932 to 1953 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial for his beloved third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, which was also the name of the mausoleum itself. Regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, the Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mogul Architecture, which is composed of different elements of Islamic and Hindu architectural art. Besides the iconic white-marble onion-shaped dome and minarets, the mausoleum is more adorned with inlaid black calligraphy around the entrance, exquisite inlaid floral patterns, and semi-precious stones such as jade, lapis lazuli, diamonds, and mother of pearl. The Taj Mahal was described by the fabled Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore as "a teardrop on the cheek of eternity" and it is one of the most romantic & greatest Indian tourist attractions. Not only being merely a majestic building or an outstanding symbol of the eternal true love but the Taj Mahal is also proudly praised as "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's". The best time to visit the place is either at dawn or dusk when the spectacle of the buildings, the color of the sky along with surrounding scenery is much far epic and stunning.
