Kehen Temple
Set on the foot of a lush hill in the village of Cempaga, Kehen Temple is an ancient Hindu Balinese temple complex that is considered a miniature of the famous Besakih Temple. The temple represents the traditional Balinese art through many unique architectural features such as mythically carved sandstone statues, well-manicured terraced gardens, and typical multi-tiered merus, making it a worthy tourist attraction in Bangli Regency. Beside the typical candi bentar gateway of Balinese architecture or the sacred 11-tiered meru tower in the inner sanctum, the temple’s highlight is an enormous banyan tree that is believed at least 400 years old and creates the primeval aura over the complex. If you’re after a tranquil temple experience, Kehen Temple could be the one.
