Learn about the tin mining history and culture of Ipoh at Han Chin Pet Soo
Located in the heart of Ipoh, Han Chin Pet Soo is the old town’s number one attraction that is devoted to the history of Hakka Tin Miners Club founded in 1893 as well as the early history of the Chinese in Ipoh. The museum displays a broad collection of artifacts, ephemera, and photographs providing an insight into the the tin mining industry of the Hakka people and the shadowy side of the tin miners carrying out behind the elegant facade of the club including gambling, opium smoking, prostitution, and triad activities. Within the museum, there is also a Hakka themed restaurant for private events.
