Relax and enjoy a boat ride on Lake Fewa
The second largest lake in Nepal, Fewa Lake or Phewa Tal is a famous focal point in Pokhara which is perfect for nature lovers and fans of outdoor and water-based activities. Located in the south of the Pokhara Valley, this semi-natural freshwater lake covers an area of about 4.43 km2 with a dam regulating the water reserves. While the north shore of the lake is teeming with hotels, lodges, restaurants, and bars catering to the travelers, which become one of the best known tourist area of Nepal, commonly called Lakeside, the steep southwestern shore is the fairy world of lush forest and wild birds, making for real nature treks and hikes. There are also many ways to experience the nature beauty of Fewa Lake like walking or cycling around the lakeshore but you will find its best when cruising leisurely over its emerald hued water on one of the brightly painted doongas (boats). The boat trip can take you to Tal Barahi Temple, the most important religious monument of Pokhara dedicated to god Vishnu and located on an island at the center of Fewa Lake, as well as offer breathtaking views of mount Machhapuchhre and other mountain peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
