Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre
Neighboured to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is another Sabah's highlight for wildlife enthusiasts and visitors looking to explore Borneo’s natural wonders. The center opened in 1964 within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve as the first rehabilitation site for orphaned baby orangutans and those rescued from captivity in the world, and now becomes home to around 60 – 80 orangutans living free in the rainforest. Sepilok is the best place for visitors to witness orangutans at their feeding stations in a beautiful natural setting, as well as learn more about this species through the Orangutan’s rehabilitation program videos.
