Step into the magic forest of Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
Located in the gorgeous Arashiyama district on the outskirts of Kyoto, the Bamboo Grove is one of the most photographed and recognizable sights in the city you should not miss during your trip in Japan. The path through the bamboo forest is short yet immersive for a gentle walk early in the morning or late evening. Just imagine you’re standing amid these soaring stalks of bamboo, seeing them sway gently back and forth in the light wind, and thin slashes of light dappling on the forest floor in a magical atmosphere. It’s a living tunnel of green for quietude and an incredible place to enjoy nature's sounds. For maximum effect, pay a visit to Tenryu-ji Temple, one of Kyoto's many UNESCO World Heritage Sites with great Zen gardens and walking paths, or explore Okochi-Sanso Villa at the top of the grove for some of the best views of the city.
