Take photos at Lover's Leap Waterfall - a little known gem in Sri Lanka
Tucked away on the outskirts of Nuwara Eliya’s pretty countryside, Lover’s Leap Waterfall is a must-see attraction making for a perfect half day visit in this enchanting hill country of Sri Lanka. The glistening cascade beginning from Pidurutalagala Mountain boasts a height of 30 metres and affords mind-blowing views of the town’s lush greenery. The best way to experience the splendour of Lover’s Leap Waterfall is to take a hike to reach the fall. From opposite the Pedro Tea Estate, you will find a 400-metre hiking trail through manicured tea plantations and small houses nestled in between the surrounding shrubbery. In spite of an uphill path, the hike isn’t too steep and is more of a leisurely hour-long walk. Underneath the waterfall, you can relax, take in the magnificent views of Nuwara Eliya town, enjoy the cool spray from the gushing water, or listen to the story behind this cascade’s name about the two lovers whose families opposed their union have leapt to their deaths from this waterfall to ensure everlasting love.
