Admire the impressive Buddhist temple Tōdaiji
One of the most famous and well-known shrines in Japan, the Todaiji Temple is located in Nara and is also one of the most notable landmarks there. A Buddhist temple, the Todaiji Temple also houses one of the world’s biggest Buddha statues, made from bronze this giant statue is known as Daibutsu. The Todiaji Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a must-visit while in Nara. While exploring the main hall, visitors can also admire a model that shows the original grand scale of the building before its reconstruction. Part of the experience of visiting Todaiji Temple is meeting the frolicking deer who roam the area. There are many deer and it is acceptable to feed them, however, it is important to respect the deer and remember they are wild animals.
