Visit the historical Paro Fortress
Along with numerous other magnificent historical dzongs across the country, Paro Dzong (formal name is Rinpung Dzong which means “the fortress on a heap of jewels” in Bhutanese) is also a must-visited place when your're traveling to Bhutan. Located on the bank of the Paro Chhu (river), a place of strategic importance, Paro Dzong was used as a fort to protect the Paro Valley from the invasions by Tibet. The massive structure of Paro Dzong towering over the town are impressively visible from most parts of the valley, especially when the entire house is lighted at night. The dzong is regarded as a typical traditional & historical house that features some of the best examples of Bhutanese architecture. People visiting the house can admire the local's stunning architectures and some nice views surrounding. Some of formal wearing etiquettes must be followed before entering the place.
