Visit to the holy Pushkar Lake
Pushkar Lake or Pushkar Sarovar is located in the eponymous town in Ajmer district of the Rajasthan, western India. The Hindu scriptures describe it as "Tirtha-Guru" – a pilgrimage sites related to a water-body in the mythology of the creator-god Brahma, whose most prominent temple in Pushkar. Hence the lake is a well-known sacred lake of the Hindus and also the lifeblood of Pushkar. Pushkar Lake is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats (a series of steps leading to the lake), where a lot of pilgrims take a sacred bath, especially around Kartik Poornima (October–November) when the Pushkar Fair is held. A dip in the sacred lake is believed to cleanse sins and cure skin diseases. Due to its holy highlights, over 500 Hindu temples are situated around the lake precincts. Stepping down the stairs of the ghats then witness the locals devoutly doing their traditional worship rituals at the lake, you will instantly feel the sanctity of the place, a sense of calm and spirituality. The natural spectacle of setting sun with the golden streaks was approaching the horizon is also a remarkable experience you may get if visiting the lake in the late afternoon.
