Is tipping customary in Korea?

Tipping is not common in Korea, as service charges are usually included. However, rounding up the bill or leaving small change is appreciated in some situations, such as in restaurants or for taxi drivers. It's not expected, so you can feel comfortable following local customs.

What are special occasions in Korea?

The two special occasions are the multi-day Lunar New Year and Chuseok (fall harvest) holidays. On these two occasions every year, Koreans hit the road en masse, making booking a bus or train ticket difficult. The dates change each year, so be sure to check and prepare in advance if you want to join these.

Should we purchase a portable WiFi device and T-Mobile SIM card at the airport, or is it better to buy them in the city?

Airport SIM cards and portable wifis tend to be higher. Get a pre-booked SIM card from Trazy or Klook is my recommendation then send it to your home address or pick-up at the airport.

Is it hard to travel in South Korea if I don’t speak Korean?

No. You can easily ask for directions, order food and converse when travelling to South Korea with the good levels of English in the cities. Signs are usually in English and Korean and many restaurants have English menus available. Besides, when you book the tour with us, the English Speaking Guides will accompany you most of the time and they will assist you during the trip.

Where can I exchange currency upon arrival/departure?

You can exchange currency upon arrival/departure. For most tourists, it is easiest to visit one of the exchange service centers at Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport.

Can I use Google Maps in South Korea?

Since Google Maps does not work well in South Korea, Koreans normally use Naver App instead. It means Google Maps will work, but only provides public transit options, walking or driving directions.

Which season should I visit South Korea?

Each season in South Korea has its unique beauty and sceneries, so you might consider visiting the country all year around. However, spring and autumn are considered the peak travel seasons in South Korea due to the pleasant climate. In details, March and May are the best if you want to see the vibrant pink of the cherry blossoms in bloom while September to November is the best time to admire the red maple leaves in South Korea.

Is it easy to get around in Korea?

Korea offers a highly efficient and well-connected public transportation network, including buses, subways, and trains. Taxis are easy to find, and high-speed trains provide a fast and convenient way to travel between cities. The T-Money Card, a rechargeable card that can be used across the public transport system, is available for purchase at convenience stores and subway stations and can be topped up as required.
